Thank You, and I Love You
When you do something kind or caring for a loved one, like a sibling or friend, you do it to show them your love and respect. But it is equally important to show them gratitude and appreciation when they do something kind for you, or simply because you want them to know your feelings.
This communicates to them that you recognize the effort they made and that you value the role they play in your life. The easiest way to tell them this is with your words, a simple sentence like “thank you” or “I love you” can make a big difference to someone. It can help brighten someone’s day, including your own!
Why These Words Are Important
It is easy to take friendships and kindness for granted. This means you can overlook these special things if you don’t pay close attention to them. But remember, they are so very special. They make your life more enjoyable and fun, and help make you feel good. When you share your appreciation and feelings, you help make these important people feel good too.
You may forget to say “thank you” when you should, for example when your martial arts classmate helps you improve your technique. It seems so little and natural, you may easily overlook this act of kindness. But it is important to share your feelings with those around you. It is a big part of showing them the gratitude and appreciation they deserve for being a good part of your life.
When You Should Say It
When it comes to words like “thank you”, they should be a regular part of your vocabulary. Every time a person does something kind for you, your first response should be to show them your appreciation. They don’t have to be kind, but they chose to because they wanted to help you. Similarly, you should make the same effort to show them that you are thankful.
Words like “I love you” are particularly special, but they should often be said to those you love. Think about it for a moment, how will they know if you don’t tell them? Even if you think they know, there is no harm in letting the people important to you know just how much they mean to you, like your siblings or parents. So, take a moment and tell them!
Sharing Your Feelings
It can be daunting or even a little embarrassing to say some of these simple words, but it is important to share them while you have the chance. You may forget or not be able to in the future, so build up your courage and tell them.
It will not only make those you care about feel happy, but it will also make you feel good to show your gratitude and appreciation, instead of keeping it pent up inside. You may feel a little guilty if you forgot to say something when you should have, but there is an easy way to change that, by sharing your feelings!
