Pick Up Your Belongings
Throughout the day, as you pass through your home, school, and various other places, you will use many things. For example, you may play with your video games after school or use special training equipment at the martial arts studio. These things may help you do certain activities, or they may simply be enjoyable items you use to have fun. Whatever they may be, they are definitely important things, or you wouldn’t have used them in the first place! You have probably been told this a million times before, but picking up after yourself is a very important thing to do.
Valuing Your Belongings
Are your things special to you? Do you appreciate their value and the people who gave them to you? Picking up your belongings shows those around you that you know the things you use are important. If you leave your belongings scattered around, people may look at the untidy mess and think you do not appreciate your things. By carelessly misplacing your belongings, you may treat them like they do not have value. This can encourage you to lose them or damage them. Even if they were not expensive, it still took a lot of effort to get them to you, so you should show them the proper appreciation by picking up after yourself.
Maintaining Your Things
What would happen if you spilled a pack of skittles? Imagine all the little pieces of candy getting everywhere on the floor. When you start to collect them, you may miss a few because there is so many. Similarly, when you leave your belongings scattered everywhere, you may eventually lose them. If it is something like your homework notebook or martial arts uniform, it would be really difficult to replace it. By picking up your belongings, you help them last longer and you keep them in a better condition.
Being Responsible and Considerate
Have you ever walked into a room and had to make your way through a bunch of litter or scattered items? It is very uncomfortable and distracting, it may even be dangerous if you trip and fall! Now, think about how others may feel if they have to walk over or through your stuff. By picking up your belongings, you show those around you that you are both responsible and considerate. If you don’t pick up after yourself, someone else will have to do it for you. So, if you care about your teachers, classmates, and others in your life, you will pick up your belongings.
Remember to Pick Up Your Belongings!
Everyone makes mistakes and has accidents. It is natural, you are only human, and we understand that. But if you take a little extra time to look around you after you leave an area, you will be able to spot all your stuff and make cleaning up just a little bit easier. Remember, your stuff includes your litter, so look out for things you need to throw in the trash when you are doing your clean up. If everyone does their part, we will all have much cleaner and more organized spaces to enjoy.
